Looking great and repping big weight is awesome, feeling energized and having full mobility is even better! Stretching keeps our muscles flexible, strong, healthy and creates positive vibes. It can also improve posture, range of motion, help prevent injury, decrease back pain and lower muscle soreness. Without regular stretching our muscles become shorter and tighter, and decrease in range of motion possibly resulting in damage to a specific muscle when needed to be used. By incorporating daily stretches and mobility work our bodies are less likely to freeze or under perform as we age.
I do not recommend intense or inverted stretches for beginners or for people that experience severe pain when performing a specific stretch. I highly recommend functional stretches to help regulate blood flow, decrease stiffness, and increase longevity. Everyone has a different body and my daily stretch routine works for my body, my sport and my activities.
Stretching just one day isn’t going to make you Elastigirl or Mr. Fantastic over night, however, with continuous practice everyday you’ll be saving your muscles and city for years to come!
